We all live busy lives that get in the way of our following the spiritual path. Taking time out for meditation can get regulated to the back burner. I have conversations with spirit all the time. But lately, life has been getting in the way of the time I used to set aside for meditation. This morning I was woken up at 5 am with a sense of needing to meditate. I decided to combine some yoga holding poses at the same time. As I was doing the meditation, I realized how much I was missing by not carving out the time for this. We can talk to our guides and receive information throughout the day, but what about staying still long enough to truly allow in what they have to offer us and being open to the spiritual energy that comes in. We benefit from the very act of stillness. We can bask in the sense of peace and feeling the balance within that comes from taking this time, listening instead of asking. When we listen, we open ourselves to experiences and newness. Are we listening to the quiet? Are we stepping into the space of time out of time? Are we allowing ourselves to be nourished from spirit? We feed our bodies, but we forget the nourishment of the spirit. It is truly taking care of yourself at a very deep level. You matter. You are worth this time. The benefit for you is immense. Give yourself the gift of receiving. Take the time for meditation or stillness.

During healing sessions when I am toning I often hear “this is the song of the women” and I feel and see a line of women mostly “Native American”. I have a feeling of ancient knowledge and knowing. I feel my connection with these women. I also feel the angels with me sending love through the emitted sound.
At the same time, I receive images and instructions from my guides on what type of vibration and tone is needed. I feel the shape of my mouth and throat adjusted for the “right” tonal quality. I feel connected to a knowing that is vast and ancient. I experience love that is both profound and deep.
I find myself often working on calming or soothing the frayed nervous system of people. At other times I am shown parts of the body to send or “focus” the sound on and the particular frequency that is needed.
The longer I work with sound and energy the more I experience the body as pulsing energies. I am amazed at the beauty and intricacy of the body and its energetic as well as the simplicity. I often feel the connection to everything and the vastness of what is. The saying about the micro and the macro makes perfect sense when in this state of Divine connection and communion with the body. We spend so much time walking around forgetting our connection to the Divine, and yet it is always there. We only need to acknowledge and open to it. I feel in some ways we have a perverseness that says I can do it on my own. But why, when there is so much available to us that is beyond words.
I feel that we are “learning”, “re-membering”, and integrating the spirit or soul of us into this human experience so we can walk our walk with Divine Knowing. The choice is ours. Sound is a way to experience this connection and to assist us in remembering. It is like a portal to the Divine. That is why certain music has uplifted us through the centuries.
Yogi’s talk about the technology of sound and mantras. They are right. Just as we climb into a car, then turn the key and off we go. When we sit down and utilize sound and mantras. They are like the key and fuel which ignites us to the experience or expansion of unknown inner and outer worlds, the world of spirit or Divine.
I went to a Jonathan Goldman Sound Conference several years ago entitled the “Lost Chord” when I was first learning about chanting and sound. A friend of mine thought I would be interested in Jonathan’s conference and forwarded a link to it. I had never heard of him but received strong guidance to go even though I did not know anyone at the event.

Once I arrived, I found out there were people from all over the world attending this event. Here I thought I was going to a little conference and found out it was a big deal. What a surprise!
I went thinking I was attending an easy and fun workshop and quickly realized otherwise as we chanted and worked with sound for 10 hours a day for 4 days in a row. It was exhausting and intense. The continual barrage of sound brought forth waves of issues for me. One issue after another would arise incredibly fast. But was even more amazing was how quickly those issues would be cleared. It felt like issue, then bam, answer. Issue, then bam, answer. This happened time after time after time..
At the time, I did not realize how much I was learning and taking in. It was as if the sound intensive engulfed me. I came away with almost a physical sense of what working with sound was all about. This was also another example of how sound helps with clearing our emotional issues. I also learned that Jonathan had imprinted different symbols into his recordings. He truly was an artist when it came to incorporating sacred sounds and symbols. I was truly blessed when I listened to spirit and showed up at the doorstep of his sound intensive conference.

Another one of my earlier experiences with sound happened when I was living in an apartment and my plants were not doing well. It was winter, and the gas heat quickly dried them out. They were yellowing and sickly looking. After I had been chanting for about a week or two, I suddenly noticed the plants located close to where I sat to chant were looking vibrant, healthy, and happy. The plants that were farther looked better, but not as good as the plants close to me.
This made me wonder about the impact of chanting on the human body. If it could help the plants so quickly, then what could it do for us humans? Spirit has a wonderful way of answering my questions, and making things happen. One of my client’s became rather ill and wanted to see me. He had having an upset stomach and much nausea. I was doing an energy work session on him and I could feel that nothing was happening. Spirit told me to chant. In the past, whenever I brought up my new practice of chanting, my client was not interested and was actually opposed to the idea, so I didn’t want to bring it up. But spirit kept nudging me to ask him if I could chant with him in the room to help him feel better. I finally gave in and got up the courage to ask him, and he was feeling so poorly that he said OK. I was embarrassed because I am not a singer and my voice would crack from my mouth getting dry. So, I didn’t chant more than 15 minutes at a time. I was amazed when he told me how remarkable he felt after such a short period of time. He no longer had any symptoms of the upset stomach or feeling like he wanted to vomit. He also told me he had a spontaneous rebirth experience, which he explained that meant he had a sudden clearing of some very old issues. Hhhhmmm. So now I had not just the plants responding in a positive way, but also a human being. This was becoming more and more interesting.
As many of you already know, I use sound in my healing practice. What you may not know is what started me down the path of using sound. I plan to write a series of blogs talking about this topic.
It all started when I was living in California and I met a couple who were incredible musicians. After getting to know them I found out they were also practicing Buddhists. Having an insatiably curious appetite and having wondered what Buddhism was all about, I went over to their house for a meeting. While I was there, they started a process that they called Gong-yo, which is basically chanting particular “words” in a certain order. They had a booklet that had words written in Sanskrit along with a phonetic translation to use. Everyone would follow along in the booklet and rhythmically chant out loud in unison using words I had never heard before.
The group chanted for about an hour. I could feel the impact of the sound throughout my body and I felt great. So I decided to give the Buddhist chanting a try, and practiced it daily on my own and with groups. Both were very powerful, but the amplification in a group was particularly impressive.
I remember that there was a phrase they often used when describing the benefits of their chanting tradition. They said that it “changed poison into medicine”. Some people in the group had a great deal of trauma in their life and immersed themselves in this daily chanting routine. I noticed their lives really turned around and that they were able to function more normally. I also noticed that when they stopped, they would often return to their negative patterns. I believe this is because chanting or sound raises ones vibration and helps to maintain a more consistent positive level.
When I feel the love of the angels it is so beautiful that it is not unusual for me to cry tears of joy.
Dear Ones. We love each of you. We love you when you feel you are unworthy. We love you when you are angry. We love you when you are in despair. It does not matter what you feel or the depth of it, we judge you not. We are just tiny reflections of the love God/Source has for you. You are loved. You are not alone. Bless your hearts.
